  • North Central Park @ Oak Brook Park District 1450 Forest Gate Road Oak Brook, IL, 60523 United States (map)

Thank you so much for being a part of the the 2018 Chicago Walk. You made this day so special for children with apraxia! We join them in saying THANK YOU for your support and your efforts to help us raise awareness. Photos from the day are already available here!

This walk would not have happened without the time and boundless energy of some incredible people including Bridget Collins, Maureen Elia, Heather Casey, Evelyn Kowalski, Dave Kowalski and his parking crew, Bill Marco, Melody Pekarek, Michelle Weissgerber-Tibble, Mary Ann Sullivan, Becky Manfre, Melissa Laskowski, Lauri Phillips, Katie Oliva, Mindy Vasilakopoulos, Kris Yung, Andrew Matt, Kelly Biesek, Samantha Van Buren, Nichole Kelso, Maria Rosenwald, Kristen Benwitz, Cheryl Sampson, Peter Topol from Strictly Music Chicago and all the volunteers from St. Xavier University and Midwestern University. We are grateful for the support of our Platinum sponsors Pediaprogress and Midwestern University. Hats off to our top fundraiser, Maureen Elia and our top team, Stomp Out Apraxia with Colin! and all of our Champion Club Members.

Our journey together does not end here. Your support has enabled us to give kids the tools that they need to thrive. There is still time to donate and fundraise to help children with apraxia! You can now connect your walk page to a Facebook fundraiser, so be sure to share with your friends and family so they can help you reach your goal. Learn more here about walk fundraising via FB. The Walk website will remain open through December of this year.

We are so happy to have you as part of the apraxia community! There is nothing more powerful than when this community comes together to Walk as one and provides hope. Don't be a stranger!

2018 Walk Information:

The Apraxia Connection is so excited to be hosting our 10th walk! This fun filled family event is a favorite for many reasons. Not only do we raise awareness about apraxia of speech, we are also able to celebrate the children who work so hard to tell us what is on their mind. All proceeds will benefit local families affected by apraxia and related disorders through The Apraxia Connection and also fund research and education programs through Apraxia Kids, the national organization focusing specifically on apraxia of speech.

Register for our family friendly  walk at North Central Park at Oak Brook Park District. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk starts there at 10. Immediately following the walk there will be games and entertainment by Strictly Music Chicago, prizes for all ages and networking with parents and therapists affected by apraxia and related disorders.  We will be recognizing all children with apraxia of speech.  Also, please come dressed for the weather as we plan to walk in rain or shine. Note, no pets allowed.

All proceeds from the walk will benefit local, regional, and national apraxia programs and research for the national organization Apraxia Kids and the local nonprofit, The Apraxia Connection.
