Winter Wonderland Apraxia Camp

December 28th-30th, 2015

9 a.m. – Noon

 The Pediatric Place in LaGrange, IL (Physio Kids) proudly presents its first intensive camp to address motor planning difficulties associated with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) as well as other verbal speech, fine and gross motor challenges.  Speech Language Pathologists will focus on pragmatic social language skills, improving speech intelligibility and target Kaufman techniques to improve speech production.  Occupational Therapists will address sensory, fine and gross motor skills to improve motor planning skills.  There will be opportunities for 1:1 support for each camper as well as group and social interactions. 

Open to children between the ages of 4-6 years with one of the following diagnoses:

● Apraxia of Speech
● Dysarthria
● Reduced Intelligibility
● Phonological Disorder

● Apraxia impacting fine and gross motor skills
● Sensory Processing Disorder

The camp will incorporate the following skills and activities:

Multi-sensory approach to integrate tactile, visual and auditory cues to improve speech production and sensory integration

      Social and peer interaction
      ● Cooperative Play
      Winter theme will include crafts, stories, dress-up/pretend play and movement
         activities
       Snacks

Camp size is limited to 4-6 children so please register early.  Cost is $400 and deadline for registering will be Wednesday, November 25.
